The Kantorei
Mondsee, founded in1991 by Professor Gottfried Holzer-Graf, sees its
main mission in the high-quality presentation of music during worship at
the former collegiate church -
today’s Basilica of Saint Michael - in Mondsee as well as in the
affiliated parish and pilgrimage churches.
The choir’s repertoire is comprised of sacred music works in varying
choral settings spanning four centuries.
The history of
the abbey and the many ties to sacred music in nearby
Salzburg
play an important role in the choice of music.
Some only recently exalted treasures can be heard during worship as
well as at the Music & Church Festival and during special concerts.
Today, it is impossible to imagine the musical
and cultural life of the parish and community Mondsee without the work and
activities of the Kantorei Mondsee. |
